The 10 Best Fitness Apps For 2020 (FREE)
Looking for the best free fitness apps? If so, take a look at the solutions I’ll tell you about in the next few chapters to find the one that’s right for you!
Adidas training (Android/iOS/iPadOS)
One of the first apps that I recommend you download is Adidas training, a semi-gratuitous solution available for both Android and iOS/iPadOS thanks to which you can perform personalised exercises taking into account the time available and the body parts to train.
The app is also compatible with Apple Watch and Wear OS, which allows you to monitor in real time the sports activity that is performed using this app with smartwatch.
Before explaining how Adidas training works, I’d like to make you a special point: the app includes many free workouts, but to access the “complete package” you need to subscribe to the Premium version of the app.
That said, if you have already downloaded Adidas training, start the app and create your Runtastic account (if you don’t have one) by registering with your email address or, if you prefer, by logging in with your Google or Facebook account (by pressing the correct buttons).
Once you’ve logged in and customised your profile with the desired objectives, first tap on the Training item below and then tap on Workout Creator. In the screen that appears, show the part of the body you want to train (e.g. Whole Body, Top or Legs) and the desired training time by scrolling the slider at the top.
Then, to start the training program, press the Continue and Start buttons and follow the on-screen instructions to perform the exercises in the best way.
Nike Training Club (Android/iOS)
Nike Training Club, one of the best home fitness apps for Android and iOS devices (with Apple Watch support) developed by the well-known sportswear and accessories manufacturer, is another solution you should seriously consider. Unlike the apps I’ve told you about so far, it’s 100% free and so you don’t have to subscribe to enjoy the over 150 workouts included.
That said, download the app in question to your device and, as soon as the download is complete, launch it to use it on your device. To get started, then press the Sign Up button and create your account (if you already have one, tap Sign In and enter your login credentials) by registering via your email or Facebook account.
When you’re logged in, tap the Start button that appears on the Welcome screen and decide whether to allow Nike to use your personal information by tapping the OK or Do Not Allow button. Now, show whether you’re a man or a woman, show the number of weekly workouts you’d like to do, and finally, choose the workout you want to try right away from the Training tab.
Before you do a workout, download it: then press the Download button and, as soon as the download is complete, press the Start button and follow the instructions in the guide to correctly perform the exercises offered by the app.
30 Days Fitness (Android/iOS)
One of the best fitness apps you can install on your device is Challenge Fitness 30 Days. As you may have guessed from its name, this app allows you to set up a personalised workout plan with which you can achieve significant results after just 30 days of activity (as long as you work hard enough!).
Challenge Fitness 30 days is available for both Android and iOS devices and provides a few workouts. Using the full version of the app, in fact, is subject to a subscription.
That said, after installing Fitness Challenge 30 days on your device, launch the app and answer the initial questionnaire on your fitness habits, in order to better customise your profile.
After that, select one of the training tabs available in the Challenges section: Complete Body Training, to train all parts of the body; Abdominal Training, to perform exercises customised for abdominal muscles; Butt Training, to perform workouts designed to tone the buttocks; Arms Training, to strengthen the muscles of the arms or Leg Training, to strengthen the muscles of the legs.
After choosing the part of the body you want to train, select the training difficulty (e.g. Base). Then press the blue Start button twice in a row to start training through the available exercises: then follow the instructions in the guide to perform them at your best.
Once you have completed your workout, tap on the Save button to save your progress and view it in the app’s built-in calendar.
Best Fitness and Diet Apps
If you’re looking for fitness apps that also help you with your diet, allowing you to develop a personalised nutrition plan, then you may find what you need in the next chapters of this guide.
Yazio (Android/iOS/iPadOS)
Yazio is a freemium app for Android and iOS/iPadOS that is among the most used, as regards the ability to keep track of calories and nutritional values taken with food and those consumed, as a result of training. The app, in fact, can synchronise your fitness progress with the values obtained with the most popular wearable devices, being compatible for example with Apple Watch.
That said, after downloading and launching it on your device, fill out the questionnaire that is proposed to you, to customise your profile and get advice tailored to your needs.
When you have finished creating your profile, tap on the (+) button to keep track of your diet and physical activity, adding your meals and workouts: the daily summary will be shown in the Diary section.
Also noteworthy is the Recipes section of the app where you can get nutrition tips through highly customisable recipes and food programs.
To be able to access this and other features completely, however, you need to subscribe to the subscription.
MyFitnessPal (Android/iOS/iPadOS)
Among the fitness and diet apps I recommend you download is MyFitessPal, one of the best known for Android and iOS/iPadOS among those that allow you to keep track of your eating habits.
Among its strengths there is the possibility to use its calorie counting function and also its workout program. The app is free but to be able to use it unlimitedly you need to subscribe to the Premium subscription.
That said, after downloading and launching the app, press the Register button to register via your email address or using your Facebook account. Then, customise your profile by answering the questionnaire that is proposed to you.
At the end of the registration, you can keep track of the calories consumed, and those introduced, adding the daily meals and exercises performed via the (+) button. All your progress will be recorded in the Diary section, while in the section called Progress you can see a graph with the progress of your fitness program.
If you want to start your workouts, please refer to the Workout Routines section in the Other menu, to choose the one that best suits your needs.
